I put off making this sort of purchase for many years, instead opting to trash several pairs of Converse high-tops and varying rubber garden shoes.When I finally relocated to a landscape that demanded better protection (snakes, rocks, mysterious sharp objects) I knew it was time to invest...and I'd say this purchase will pay for itself in the first day.The boot is indeed unisex, but 40/41 is a good fit for a women's U.S. 9m...wiggle room for the toe without feeling like clown shoes.The only minor issues would be that the width is greater (will employ thick socks) to accommodate a man's foot and the calf adjustment is not quite tight enough for my bird legs...however, over jeans or sweats -- should be perfect.If the reader is a true women's 8.5 or shy of 9, do consider going down to the next whole size offered.The feel is comfortable, with support, durable build and a sturdy weight - I don't feel like I got less of a boot because I...

not what i expected..... EVEN BETTER
So, i totally wasn't paying attention when i bought these and thought that they were actual wellingtons. When i got them in the mail, i was at first disappointed. But as soon as i put them on i was most surprised. they are a great product. true to size. great quality. solid bottom. really comfortable. i would definitely recommend them and purchase again.

An OK boot
These boots are just ok. The heel seems to shrink everyday and it is quite a step to put my foot in my extra wide boot. Also, The lining on the sole is already coming off of the sole after 2 months of wearing them. I would not buy them again.

Can't Complain!
I have very muscular calves (years of ballet and genes too) so I shopped around online for a long time to find a pair of wellies that would go over my calves with space to tuck in jeans. These are perfect! They're adjustable so if you are blessed with skinny legs, they'll fit just fine too. The shoe of the boot was a little more narrow than I expected. I wear a 8.5 and I bought the boots in 9. They fit just fine but I can't imagine wearing really thick, warm socks with them. If you want to wear thick socks, go an extra size up. Of course, like all wellies they smell a little bit at first. But if you just set them next to an open window for a few days, the rubber odor goes away. I really love these boots. They're sophisticated and simple but very fun to wear! I've received a lot of compliments already. =]

These rain boots seem too wide, comparing to other rain boots out there. I have small calves and narrow ankles, these boots look ridiculous on me. Other than that, just like the picture.UPDATEI did not notice that the seller sent me a size 37(7), instead of 36(6). No wonder they are huge. I will try to return them for a refund.
