worth every penny
I've used this in a variety of New England-style seafood soups and chowders and it can't be beat. Making my own fresh stock from lobster shells and fish heads requires both time and ingredients hard to come by in West Virginia, and every other stock I've tried is overwhelmed by salt with a bland, watery faux-fish flavor.

Critical ingredient in Cajun dishes.
Essential for gumbos, jambalaya, steamed fish, and Étouffé. I'd be lost without this stuff. I FOUND THE MISSING INGREDIENT AT LAST!!!!
Thank you for carrying this product. My husband and I used to go to Chi-Chi's Restaurant many years ago beforethey closed in Bowling Green, Ky. The Cancun Seafood Enchilada and Sweet Corn Cakes were our favorite. I wasable to find the recipe for the corn cakes in a cookbook I purchased, but I could never find the recipe forthe Cancun. Any type of seafood can be enriched with this product. I have made stuffing for fish using this lobster base to season the bread and veggies. It's great in stuffed clams. Wonderful for seafood recipes
I'm really rather surprised to see the mixed reviews on here, although I wonder if some of the less favorable reviews have more to do with the recipes in which the base was used. Keep in mind, this is basically a replacement for bouillon cubes, but with a lobster flavor instead of beef or chicken. It packs an intense flavor and, yes, does have a lot of sodium (but not as much as a dried bouillon cube). For most recipes, this means easing up on any additional salt.That said, I've used this not only for lobster bisque but also for a broth for seafood risotto and a paella and it makes for a wonderful dish that can't be beat except by your own lobster stock (and this is a lot cheaper). If you'd like a particularly good recipe for which you can use this stuff, check out the Seafood Risotto recipe at the Rustic Kitchen website. That's a restaurant in Boston that hosts a cooking show with a local celebrity chef -- the recipe is delicious. Bon appetit!

Big Daddy of Shrimp Boil Pots
I bought this pot for our tailgates. We usually do a shrimp boil at least once a year. We had a 30 qt pot that was almost overflowing, so I thought a new pot was in order. This thing is huge. We did our normal boil for 20 people and the pot was barely over half full. Plenty of room for our tailgate to grow.Pot is heavy duty and will last a life time. Very well made. In retrospect, I probably should have bought the 40 Qt (as the wife regularly reminds me). Was the talk of the tailgate. Now just have to figure out where I'll store it ....

Love it!
Great product! Had been looking for a pot with a strainer and am very happy with this one. Big enough for the job and it gets it done! Use it for clams, corn, lobster... whatever. Nice and lightweight and "stocky" enough not to tip over easily. Strongly recommend it for the price.

Perfect size for my family of 5

Where Can I buy Seafood Stock


It wasn’t until I went to buy seafood stock in the grocery store that I came to realize how hard it is to find,  and how expensive it s when you do find it.    I no longer buy this ingredient but make it instead and keep in the freezer for...   Get to know your fish monger and have him save heads and bones for you as these ingredients, that normally get tossed, actually make the most flavorful stock. If you (or someone you know) is a fisherman, save the bones and heads after fileting the catch in a bag in the freezer until you have enough to make stock. The best fish for making stock are light fleshed, firm, and mild flavored. Heat olive oil in a large stock pot over medium-high heat. You can use almost any mild flavored fish for stock.
