Works great on my lawn!
I have a heavily shaded front lawn and since we moved in last summer I've struggled with thickening it up. I was skeptical of this product and tried the 4lb jug. I found it difficult to spread 1/16-1/8" thick layer as suggested so I did a little thicker, using the entire package over a roughly 3x5 foot area. And I was AMAZED at the results. Keeping it wet as directed I developed a very thick 3x5 foot area of grass! I've since purchased more and in greater quantities to fill in the thinner patches in my yard. This product is very easy to use. And as a nurse I get too worn out to mess around with yard stuff so this product is perfect for me. Great seed! Easy Product!
I recently bought this product elsewhere and used it to seed a mostly rock & dirt patched lawn. I tried 4 different brands of seed/mulch/fertilizer to repair this lawn and was most pleased with Scotts EZ Seed. It was fast and easy growing and as long as you watered regularily and don't mow it for 6 weeks (maybe less, but I let it go 6 weeks) so it has plenty of time to take hold of the soil. I was very pleased with it and will be purchasing more to repair my lawn again (recently had drain tile installed). Having said all this, I don't have a huge amount of experience seeding lawns, so I was hesitant to give it 5 stars only because there may be better products.

So far so good.
I really think that it's hard to get a true sense of how something is going to work when it's performance is so dependent on conditions. I was hesitant to purchase this product because of some of the reviews but after using it I thought I would share my experience. We applied this to a section of a new lawn we were putting in (between pavers). The soil was very rich loose composted soil. We applied the product very heavy (approximately twice as much as the directions stated). We watered the area once a day for a few minutes. It took two weeks for the seeds to get started. From week 2 to week 3 It's really grown well. It did so well we decided to do the rest of the lawn with this product.I think this is a good product. Not sure if it's the best one on the market but we have grass and that's what we wanted. I think it could work for anyone if the soil is properly prepared, it's watered properly, and the area is protected from traffic. Top to learn more

Best in the Deep South
Just as with Kentucky bluegrass, zoysia, and fescue, there are a number of different cultivars (types) of bermudagrass. The one in this product is called "Sunbird." Sunbird is a good cultivar, with excellent green color and disease resistance, but it's not one of the more winter-hearty types. If you live north of South Carolina it's going to be brown about 9 months a year and could have a little trouble surviving the winter. For bermudagrass that is going to be planted in the northern part of the warm season grass zone, you would be better off using one of the more northern-adapted cultivars like Yukon. At the time of this writing, I did not see Yukon being offered on Amazon, but it does show up from time to time, and it should be available at your local hardware store/seed supplier if you live in one of the more northern parts of the warm season grass zone. Scotts Bermuda Seed
This grass was planted in the 90f temperatures and I watered it every day for 2 weeks for 10 minutes in the morning and evening. This grass is growing taller than the Fescue I have and really has come up well. It took 5 days in the bare areas(full sun) to come up and in between other grass about 10 days with mixed results. It also does not come up well in shady areas even if the areas do get part sun during the day.I was fortunate during this period that there were also some good soaking storms.The key to getting Bermuda to grow is:1. Temperatures above 80f2. Till up the soil where the seed will be planted3. Kill the existing grass - the bare spots in between other grass have taken much longer to grow and the results aren't as good as when you have a large area that has been cleared of all grass and tilled4. Works well in the shade too
First off, I live in Central Texas and we started using this product in May of 2011 - right as the HOTTEST SUMMER EVER was about to take place. Our front yard is shaded by two giant live oak trees almost the entire day. The only sunlight the grass gets is sunrise until about 9 am then it is very filtered until about 1.The first round we just threw the seed down and used the Scotts feed for it and about a week later all kinds of little blades were coming up. - Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that since our front lawn has been so shaded we had to trim the trees way back just to get it morning sun and for years the previous owners didn't take care of their lawn so the soil was pretty poor. Anyways we threw the seed down with the walking/pushing spreader from Scotts - no extra soil, or prepping.We watered every morning. easy gardening
I purchased the EZ seed from Scotts to repair some damaged spots I had in my lawn from seeds not taking, from the kids playing in certain areas of the yard that left the lawn looking pretty awful and from those areas of the lawn that are exposed to other elements of nature that leave the lawn dead. I applied the EZ seed which contains the mulch, seed and fertilizer and watered. When the EZ seed turns a browish color you add more water and in about one months time you will have a greener and more dense lawn.
