YUM! AMBROSIA!
After reading several of Bruce Fife's books (and they were wonderfully easy-to-read for the non-scientific type), I decided to give coconut oil a try to help with losing weight and getting my blood sugar under control. As a non-medication taking, recently diagnosed diabetic, I want to try whatever natural remedies I can find to stay off insulin and other diabetes meds, in addition to meds for cholesterol, etc. I tried taking a teaspoon or two with meals and a teaspoon btw meals and my blood sugar numbers were noticeably lower the same day. (Fife says the suggested dose is 3-4 tbs/day). The taste of this brand is fantastic, light and creamy with a delicious coconutty taste! I love coconut so I was able to eat it right from the jar, but I also tried it spread on a Wasa Crisp bread--WOW, what an easy way to get MCFAs into your diet! I will definitely be using this instead of any oils for all my cooking needs (except a little EVOO mixed together with this for salad dressing.) Also, I'm... Top to learn more
Works Wonders for Black Hair
I've gone to wearing my hair "natural"--no chemical relaxers to straighten it. On advice from other African-American women who have also gone the natural route, I tried mixing coconut oil, unrefined shea butter, and aloe gel to use on my hair. The results are nothing short of miraculous! My hair is soft, shiny, and manageable. I use the braid-out/twist-out styling methods, and the resulting curls and spirals are absolutely beautiful. Also, I've read up on the health benefits of coconut oil, so I will definitely be experimenting with it in my cooking. Best Tasting Coconut Oil I've Tried: Quality is A+
Nutiva's Organic coconut oil is the best I've found. I've tried several brands, but nothing tastes as clean and pure as this. There is a definite undertone of coconut, but I like the flavor, even when frying eggs or eating it on cinnamon raisin toast. I recently had bloodwork done and my HDL (the good cholesterol) was an impressive 77---anything over 39 is considered in range; over 50 is heart protective). I attribute this great HDL number to using only coconut oil, butter, and olive oil in my cooking & drinking green tea.Amazon's Subscribe & Save offer is a great deal; I really like the 2 pack of these smaller (15 oz) jars. We're a small household and I like keeping one jar sealed while using the other. Keep in mind that coconut oil is different than other oils--it is solid at temperatures under 72, so it will look something like shortening in the wintertime. Still tastes great and is wonderful to use in all kinds of cooking. One more important detail:...

amazingly delicious fresh coconut scent, beautiful white color, versatile, AND ORGANIC!
This is a marvelous product with some interesting health benefits (google it up). You can use it in baking, frying, in sauces, for vegan raw pies, mix with chocolate for puddings, moisturize your hair or skin, soothe rough elbows, etc. This melts really fast in a pan, so you don't need a high heat. I fry eggs in it, and the coconut taste is subtle. Any ethnic dish that requires sauteeing or saucing and can benefit from a fresh coconut flavor, this is useful. I've cooked meats in it, as well. If you hate the smell/taste of coconut, obviously, this is not for you. This brand, Nutiva, is organic and virgin. It smells so good. And I have an old jar that I never finished (really big one), and nearly two years later, after sitting right by the stove, it still smells fresh, like Cuban coconut candy my mom used to make. Yes, solid and fresh and white and fragrant TWO YEARS LATER. This is a very stable product.Recommended.

Great Product
I love the smell of this product. I have tried other coconut oils, and they are not the quality of Nutiva. You can use this for so many things. It is a great, light-weight moisturizer. I also love to put it on my hair. It adds a great taste to smoothies, and I have also used it to cook with. This is a very versatile product. I love it.

The BEST tasting coconut oil hands down!!
I have tried three different brands of coconut oil: Barlean's, Nutiva, and Tropical Traditions. The VIRGIN coconut oil has a nice, light coconut flavor. The EXPELLER pressed coconut oil has no flavor. So, if you a buying virgin coconut oil here's my tip: Barlean's had the best flavor and smell...I wanted to eat it right out of the jar it smelled so good, tasted phenomenal!! Barlean's was the most expensive of the three but for the flavor worth it. Nutiva was a close second in taste & smell and is more economical. Tropical Traditional (which I have always loved their products in the past) did not measure up in flavor. In fact it had a strange, burnt taste and smell...something was off about it. If you want no coconut flavor at all, get the expeller pressed coconut oil. It is less expensive than virgin coconut oil...all three companies use proper, healthy, non-chemical practices to extract the oil, so I would go with the best buy for the expeller cold pressed oil but pay a little more... Awesome product
This product has several uses. My sister told me about coconut oil and I researched further. Not all coconut oils are the same. This one is great for me because I have used it to condition my hair as well as my skin. Also you can eat and cook with this product. It has the most delightful light natural coconut fragrance. It desolves quickly into the skin without oily residue. Fast absorbtion. Gentle too! Top to learn more

wonderful for your skin
I had read that organic coconut oil was good for healing skin yeast infections so I thought I'd try it. This is alot of coconut oil for the price!! It smells clean and like coconut ( of course!) It cleared up my minor infection within days. I use the oil all over now because it goes on smoothly and absorbs into the skin rather quickly. Don't leave it in the sun because the heat will warm it to liquid! Top to learn more

Rich in MCTs for Energy and Weight Control A powerful source of nutrition, coconut oil is made up of special fatty acids called medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which make it unique among other fats. While we tend to think of triglycerides as bad, the medium-chain varieties are actually good for you. In fact, MCTs are widely used by high-endurance athletes because of their powerful energy-producing properties.
Coconut oil's high MCT count allows it to be metabolized as a carbohydrate to create immediate energy that can stimulate the entire body. Therefore, consuming coconut oil can help increase your metabolism and even help you lose weight.
Health Benefits of MCTs The MCTs in Barlean's Coconut Oil--which include lauric acid, caprylic acid, and capric acid--have been reported to possess a wide variety of health benefits. Some studies show that they can increase HDL, the good cholesterol, which favorably affects the cholesterol ratio (the relationship between total and HDL cholesterol). Coconut oil can also boost your energy level, support a healthy immune system, and nourish skin and hair.
Take Internally or Apply Externally for Best Benefits It's easy to incorporate Barlean's Extra Virgin Coconut Oil into your daily life. As a general guideline, use one tablespoon per 50 pounds of body weight per day, which equates to the amount of MCTs babies get daily from mother's milk. Much smaller amounts will still be beneficial. Great results can be experienced with just one tablespoon per day.
You can use coconut oil as a replacement for butter or oils in cooking and baking, or apply it externally to moisturize the skin and hair.

Best Value EVO Coconut Oil Available
After searching long and hard for the best value extra virgin organic coconut oil on Amazon, I found this product. Unfortunately since I made the purchase, the price has gone up from about $18 to about $20, but it is still the cheapest EVO coconut oil on Amazon. This is the only EVO coconut oil I have bought, but in my opinion from research I have done, all such products are the same or virtually the same in terms of quality, based on how they are produced.Again, I do not know how other EVO coconut oil products taste, but this product tastes (and smells) great to me, just like fresh coconut, so why would I pay a lot more for another product? As far as I can tell it is identical in every way to the more expensive EVO coconut oil products on Amazon, so I am guessing that few people have bought it and thus no one until now has reviewed it because they assume the lower price means it is lower quality, and I can attest that this is not true. You do have to buy 3 of the 54 oz... Top to learn more
Taste soooo good
I've tried numerous coconut oils and I must say I really like this one.It smells so delicious when you open the jar.I enjoy it so much I usually eat 2 Tbsp a day like some people eat peanut butter. If your way of eating is low carbing this product fits the bill and it's so healthy . I also enjoy making a "candy" treat with it.1 Tbsp chopped nuts i.e. walnuts, almonds or pecans in a small cupcake paper or aluminum baking cup. Add 2 tbsp of melted coconut oil on top of the chopped nuts.Sprinkle 1 tsp of coconut flakes on top.Let it harden in the fridge then it's ready to enjoy.Add a cherry on top when in season, grated orange rinds, strawberry halved...Use your imagination...~Enjoy, Sooo Goood Top to learn more

Much better price than the Nutiva brand
This Vitacost coconut oil tastes and works just as good as the Nutiva brand and costs a lot less. My local store sells the 54oz Nutiva for about $36. To save some money I thought I'd buy the 54oz Nutiva 2 pack here on Amazon. Then I stumbled across this Vitacost brand and thought I'd give it a try. Since it tastes the same and has the same properties (organic extra virgin), why spend more money on other brands. Top to learn more

Delicious
I've tried two of the major coconut oil brands that I order via the internet. I've been using the oil in food and on my skin for about 5 years. I ordered this just to see how it tasted because the price was so good, if it didn't taste right, I'd just use it on my skin. It is the BEST tasting oil I've tried. Tropical Traditions, Coconut Oil Supreme pale in comparison. This is truly a coconut oil you could eat right out of the jar. If you want to try a coconut oil that tastes as good as it smells, this is it. And the price is fabulous. Yea, Nutiva and Amazon! Top to learn more

Tropical Treat
I love this coconut oil! It has a delicate coconut aroma and flavor. I have only just started using it but have found it to be delicious when making pancakes in lieu of using butter. I have also used it as a substitute for butter when making grilled cheese sandwiches and baked sweet potatoes. It will do wonders for your hair and skin too. I especially like using it as a hot oil treatment for my hair. I mix the coconut oil with a few drops of lemon essential oil and rub it into my hair. It smells like dessert and good for my hair and scalp. Try it with your favorite essential oils!Warning: It melts at 76F. Be careful when opening a jar that's been sitting in a warm cupboard. It's a win win thing. And I even like the smell!
The skin is a great delivery system for absorbing things into your body. So what are you putting on your skin? Read the ingredients on your handcream or body lotion. Are they good for you? Don't know? Can you even pronounce them? Let's keep it simple. Virgin organic coconut oil. Snowy white, unrefined, heavenly smell - this stuff is terrific!! Solid at room temperature, smooth and buttery and melts at 76 degrees; cook/fry with it on low heat for a healthy and fragrant alternative to all those ulgy refined oils and hydrogenated trans fats (YUCK!), use as a lighter butter or shortening alternative (there's not a lot of flavor and the smell is intoxicating); use as hand cream (rub it on - only gets greasy if you really over load the area) I use it as a body lotion all over my body (my skin feels soft and smooth like it did when I was a child), hair conditioner (a light deep conditioner); anti-fungal properties (put it between your toes for goodness sake!) make-up remover - voila... Product Description
A deliciously healthy cooking oil. Better than butter. USDA organic. Unrefined & no trans fats. Rich in lauric acid. A soothing body oil. The coconut oil myth. Coconut oil has been mistakenly described as not healthy. The fact is, coconut oil is cholesterol-free and rich in medium-chain good fats that doctors recommend. Why is it that baby formulas often include coconut oil? Because coconut is one of the world's most nourishing super foods. Nutritionists suggest enjoying up to 3 tbsp of extra-virgin coconut oil each day, so help yourself to this heavenly, creamy taste of the tropics. Nutiva's cold-pressed Coconut Oil is: Extra-virgin & pure white: not refined, deodorized or bleached! Organic: so it's free from pesticides, GMOs and hexane. Versatile: Ideal as high-heat cooking oil (up to 350 degrees), as a nutritious substitute in baking, a better-than-butter replacement on bread, vegetables or popcorn, and as a luscious oil for skin care, hair care, and massage. America needs an oil change. While doctors suggest we consume a 4:1 ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3, the average American diet provides a ratio of 20:1 or more - contributing to heart disease, skin disorders, and arterial inflammation. So avoid out of balance soy, corn, and canola oils with their trans fats, oxidation, and GMOs. Cook with coconut oil (with only 1% Omega-6), and use olive oil (also low in Omega-6), and hemp oil (with the perfect 3:1 Omega ratio) for unheated recipes. Nature's ideal all-purpose cooking oil. No trans or hydrogenated fat; no cholesterol or hexane. Unlike other brands, we press our coconuts within 2 hours of chopping. No refrigeration required. Solid at room temperature and melts at 76 degrees. Any coconut husk fibers at the bottom of the jar are indigenous to the processing and harmless. Coconut oil contains medium-chain good fats with 50-55% lauric acid - a healthful nutrient that supports the metabolism. Certified organic by QAI. Product of the Philippines. Top to learn more

Hard to find Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
Some people use this as a cooking oil for high temps and also for eating raw. Well, I use it in massage therapy. This is a phenominal product and because it is cold pressed still has the scent of coconut. The aroma is not overwhelming and does not linger on the skin. Because this oil is solid at less than 76 degrees you have to warm it to liquify. To keep from becoming rancid, once open it should be kept in the refrigerator. It contains no preservatives. It will absolutely stain your linens as it is very thick. To remove spray PAM or other brand aerosol anti stick cooking spray on the stain. It will then launder right out. Just know that a soapy wash will not remove this. As a skin treatment Jarrow and Garden of Life are the premier coconut oil perveyors. A+. 2-3 oz is enough for one massage. I use a scale to weigh out for each client, which everyone should do to avoid cross contamination. Try. Top to learn more
Best oil in the planet after olive&fish&sesame&flax seed oil.
At one time coconut oil received negative press in the US because of its high level of saturated fat. However, modern research has shown that not all saturated fats are alike and that the fatty acids in coconut oil, the medium chain triglycerides, do not raise serum cholesterol or contribute to heart disease, but are in fact very healthy. Also, some negative studies done on coconut oil in the past was done on hydrogenated coconut oil, which has been altered from its original form. Other studies have clearly shown that traditional Asian cultures that eat significant amounts of coconut in their diet do not suffer from modern diseases seen in western cultures that promote a low-fat diet."Approximately 50% of the fatty acids in coconut fat are lauric acid. Lauric acid is a medium chain fatty acid, which has the additional beneficial function of being formed into monolaurin in the human or animal body. Monolaurin is the anti-viral, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal monoglyceride... Top to learn more
Best tasting and consistently great
I have tried other coconut oils. They can taste funny. The Jarrow Extra Virgin tastes great, like a delicious light coconut flavor that adds a great boost to stir-fry, meats, even scrambled eggs taste terrific. The Jarrow regular coconut oil (not extra-virgin) is also nice but has no taste. I like this one best and will continue to buy it. Yum yum! Also makes a fun candy coating for bananas when mixed with unsweetened cocoa powder and a little cinnamon. Dip banana slices in the mixture and refrigerate until solid. Enjoy! Top to learn more

Organic products which can shield and treat skin from lines and wrinkles include the following: olive oil, banana, coconut essential oil, Moroccan essential oil, avocado, lemon and sugar, and vitamin e oil. Therefore, many individuals are now also wondering what is argan oil actually beneficial to. This particular oil does not only contain fatty acids and other nourishment, but it is enriched with it. Fatty acids function by battling dryness,... Purchase extra-virgin coconut essential oil and utilize this as a regular moisturizer, particularly after each time you take a shower. Coconut oil is extremely good at healing wrinkles since it contains effective anti-oxidants that will prevent the free radicals from further damaging the skin and making wrinkles. Every night before you go to bed, utilize extra virgin olive oil on your skin as a moisturizer. Furthermore, coconut essential oil is also rich with nutrients, thus your skin is not only cured for lines and wrinkles, but also nourished. Another natural product which you can use for your wrinkles is coconut oil. Because of the oleic acid that’s present in olive oil, this natural element has the ability to lock in the moisture in the skin and stop further development of more wrinkles. This particular vitamin promotes the production of more oil on your skin, that smoothens out fine lines and wrinkles. Coconut oil.
Avocado oil is one of my staple oils along side extra virgin olive oil, virgin coconut oil, and macadamia nut oil. Because avocado oil is trans fat free, it can be included freely without the concerns of going rancid, like oils high in omega-6 [grain and seed oils] and omega-3 fatty acids [flax oil] can which, once oxidized, are arguably as unhealthy as trans... Because omega-6 oils are used extensively in the food supply, both as cooking oils and as ingredients in many prepared and processed foods, we over consume omega-6 oils at the expense of omega-3. My advice to clients is to reduce their intake of omega-6 fats, since we consume far too much, by ditching all grain and seed oils and products made with them [small amounts of whole nuts and seeds is fine], and to use olive, avocado and coconut... It is very similar to olive oil in that it is rich in monounsaturated fat making it more stable and less prone to damage while not promoting inflammation like omega-6 rich grain and seed oils can. As a culinary, or cooking oil, avocado oil compares to olive oil. Both avocado and olive oil are derived by the flesh of the fruit versus the seed like grain and seed oils are such as corn, soy, flax, safflower, canola or sunflower are for example. This is the type of fat was made famous by the Mediterranean diet because olive oil is the staple oil. Saturated fats and the monounsaturated fats, abundantly found in avocado oil, are more resistant to damage resulting in less oxidized LDL.
