Nice upgrade from the LX3
This camera is really fantastic and a nice upgrade from the LX3. That's not to say that everyone should upgrade, but I think there are some significant advantages.For me, I really needed the additional zoom and was very excited to hear that this is exactly what the LX5 had, without sacrificing the f2.0 lens. My brother needed a new camera anyway and was happy to get my 2 year old LX3. (By the way that camera is in nearly perfect condition. Panasonic really build a quality product with the LX line and I think the LX5 is even better.)Here are the major comparisons to the LX3. Decide if these are worth it to you:- Better image stabilization. I am getting crisp photos at speeds as low as 1/10sec.- Better sensor than the LX3. The ultimate serious photographer's point & shoot
Wow, I am so impressed by this camera! I am a professional photographer and have been searching for a quality point & shoot for casual use when I don't want to lug around my DSLR (Nikon D700 at the moment) but have never been happy with the compromises of a P&S. Some of the features that were most important to me for a P&S were:- RAW files - LX5 can shoot RAW files to allow changing WB and giving maximum flexibility in editing images in my preferred RAW converter, Lightroom 3.- Fast glass - f/2 lens!! Even at 90mm, it is still f/3.3!- Wide-angle - 24mm (35mm equivalent) is awesome, the Canon S90 only goes to 28mm and most P&S no wider than 35mm.- Decent zoom range - I wasn't interested in a 10x superzoom but wanted something at least to 70 or 80 mm. The zoom range of 24mm to 90mm is just perfect without compromising the quality and speed of the lens.- Reasonable compactness - it is fairly compact without feeling like I'm handling a bar of soap...

Depends What You're Looking For
I said "Depends on What You're Looking For" because everyone has their own expectations and needs. In my case, all my DSLRs have been Nikon, and all my small pocket cameras have been Canon. I was in the market for a new pocket camera since my others didn't have optical image stabilization. So I bought another small Canon, and for some reason, just not as pleased anymore (I ended up giving to my wife and she loves it). I must admit I'm picky on quality of the image, high ISO capability, and having some control over camera setting.A friend of mine had been looking at DSLRs, but bought the LX5 and asked what I thought about it. The more I reviewed and analyzed it, the more I liked it. So I bought one. It's close to a pocket size camera, but a little larger. Though the specs say 4.3 inch x 2.6 inch x 1 inch, that is true, but just for the body itself. The lens with lens cap adds another inch sticking out. So the body is OK, but a little bigger than I previously would...

Excellent At Its Job
I used it in a load containing a red dress that bleeds like crazy even in cold water. Other items, pastels, even whites remained the color they are supposed to be. Cloth is thick and hefty and absorbs dyes like mad. Just Wonderful. Ad has one error. There are NOT 30 cloths. THERE IS ONLY ONE CLOTH per box AND IT SUPPOSED TO LAST THROUGH 30 WASHINGS.Product doesn't contribute any fragrance to the laundry.Product doesn't alter the feel of laundered fabrics.Drop it in the washer and leave it there. Easy as that!Personally I do let it dry so it doesn't mold and smell from being kept wet inside a closed washer, perhaps it has a chemical protection against that I don't know, not giving that outcome a chance to arise.

Well engineered but needs new battery chemistry!
This is my favorite out of the 4 "sawzalls" (apologies, Milwaukee) I own/have owned. Just so you know its competition here, I have the corded version of this saw, a cordless 18V Ryobi (not bad, all things considered, but definitely not rugged enough for daily use), Makita's LXT Li-Ion version (a real disappointment that one) and this baby. So far this one is my favorite, and, overall, I am extremely pleased with its performance.What I like about it:1. Well-balanced2. Rugged3. Good power despite being cordless5. Not too heavy6. The "chuck" (collet?)What needs to be improved:1. The batteries!The best feature by far is the 4-position quick-release chuck/collet. Dewalt Saw

Great reciprocating saw for the smaller jobs....
DeWalt has another cordless winner here. Plenty of power. I have a corded Mikita saw that I have used for years and its great for the big, intensive use jobs. I wanted something for the smaller jobs that was cordless and not have to drag around an extension cord... quick out; quick to put away. I have a mix of corded power tool brands but settled on DeWalt for my cordless needs. I have half-dozen 18v XRP's and a couple of chargers through past purchases.If you are in a similar situation with extra batteries and chargers...Maxtools.com sells the 'BARE TOOL' at a good price (no batteries/charger are included). Amazon should stock the bare tools. The saw was $99 and comes with a 6" combo blade so that you can test the saw.Be warned, my saw took almost 3 weeks to arrive, but, hey, the price is right for a DeWalt and the saw arrived without damage. Worth the Price
This tool is quite powerful and last a long time on a single battery. This was part of the DC6KITA. I have tested each tool and have reviewed some. This one is not exception. On a fresh battery and with the supplied blade I continually cut 2x4's until my hand was sore from holding on. The power is nice. It did not seem too bog when pushed hard through the wood. Battery life suprised me by never giving up. On a full demo job where cutting throught various materials is necessary it might show it's weakness in longevity.Having purchased a 1/2 rebar to test the DC410 cut-off tool, I proceeded to test the DC385 with a 18tpi metal blade. It worked quite well. The power was still there. No bogging. Of course pressure was needed to help the teeth bite, but that is to be expected.Also the adjustable shoe is a new feature. It does not have much range of motion but at least it is there.For most all home projects this is going to be a wonderful...

Janome DC 1050
I have not been using this machine long, but I already love it. At first when I tried it I had trouble with the machine feeding itself the material. I was used to having to really guide the material along with my old machine. This machine does not like it if you try to push the material into it. All you have to do is put the material in and put the foot down and start to go. The machine does the rest. I am working on very delicate material and this machine just glides along with no problems.Also hemmed up a pair of jeans with one the decorative stitches which was a blast. So far no problems with the machine. My husband commented first thing about how quiet it is.

Janome DC1050
I knew I wanted a Janome when I started looking. I love to quilt but don't have a lot of time to dedicate to it these days. My last machine was a Brother and although it served me well, the decorative stitches stopped working when I had it cleaned. Since the DC 1050 was so new there were not many reviews out there. I narrowed it down to the DC 1050 and the DC 2010 (both were in the price range I wanted). The DC 2010 has the superior feed system (SFS) but the DC 1050 had the decorative stitches I wanted. From what I've read about the superior feed system is that all Janome machines have a sturdy feed feature even without the SFS. It was stitch number 20 and the start/stop button that won me over to the DC 1050. I got the machine just in time for a quilt retreat and it performed beautifully. It is quiet and sturdy....works like a dream! I am very happy that I chose this machine. It didn't come with a darning foot or a walking foot but the ones from my Brother are compatible...

Great machine!!
I couldn't be more happy with my new machine! The features on it are just was I was looking for. Set up was easy with the instruction manual and the machine is very user-friendly. The I received everything in its original packaging and within the estimated delivery time. The standard accessories kit includes bobbins, a needle set, zipper foot, satin stitch foot, and buttonhole foot, and more. It is worth it to spend a little extra for a machine you know will last you a life time versus buying something cheap at Walmart that will probably break on you in 6 months. I would definitely recommend this machine to anyone whether you just starting out (like me) or you've have lots of experience.
