Love it...
I commute about 27 miles a day. I need tires that can take the broken glass and road crud in stride without flatting. I used to use Armadillo's but they were so heavy and slick in the rain. Then I used Gatorskins, which I loved...until my supplier ran out of stock for quite some time. Once my Gatorskins wore out I thought I'd save some bucks and buy some less expensive tires. Result... flat... flat... flat... flat. Ended up replacing tubes on a weekly basis. So... I sprung for this more expensive tire. It is just as good as the Gatorskin used to be. Once I put it on, I've not flatted again. Rides really smooth too. It is also relatively light and the black tire is really sticky and holds the road in the rain. I have confidence, not only that the tire won't flat on my way to work, but that even in rainy conditions, I won't be sliding on grates or road paint. Finally, a nice touch... they've included a small depression in the tire that helps you know when it is time to...

Roadscrape
I did a good bit of research and narrowed my choice down to the Conti 4000 S and Vittoria Open Corsa Evo. I found a great deal on pair of Contis for much less than the Vits, so ordered the 4000 S in 700x23. I'm fairly sure the 4000 S and 4000 in black are the same tire with different graphics - but the 4000 in colors do not have the same material compound.Over 3,000 miles on this set and still amazed by them (rotated when rear started to square). My other bikes have wider tires (28 and 30) yet the Conti GP 4000 S in 23 mm rides more smoothly (I'm 178 lb., run it at 100 psi - note that maximum pressure on bike tires means max. for 220 lb. total weight - vary the psi according to your weight+bike weight).The 4000 S has amazing ride quality and durability on chip/seal and old broken pavement as well as new blacktop. I've hit fresh gravel (sharp edged stuff indeed), plenty of road holes, patches of broken glass, small pieces of sheet metal and who knows what else -...

Great tires
I live in Colorado and we have lots of goatheads around here. I wanted some tires that held up fairly well to punctures but didn't feel like I was running steel belts while pedaling uphill. I have been using these tires for roughly 3 seasons and am very happy with them. I noticed at first that I was still flatting with them but when I am diligent about keeping the pressure up (I run them at 115), they perform much better.I can generally get ~7,000 miles per tire unless I roll over a hazard and get a slice (it's only happened once).

Great looking, Fast, Fantastic Tires Overall
For the money these are some of the best road tires you can buy. I typically ride on Continental GP Attack & GP Force tires as they are the fastest tire on the market but still provide a very soft ride. These tires are every bit as soft at the same high pressure but are a tad bit slower, understandable for the money difference. Even though they have a higher rolling resistance they are still very fast and most people wouldn't even notice the difference. I've rode on many different brands of tires including high end Italian tires and these two Conti's or the Michelin Pro3 Race kick but on all of the others for road type riding. I like these more than the GP 4000's which my local bike store live by but I find these every bit as good even though they have a lesser TPI. I have several hundred miles and haven't suffered a punctured tire yet and I've road through some real junk too.

Nearly bullet-proof, roll great, and stick like glue. Awesome tires.
I ride fixed in an urban environment and was infuriated with constantly having to deal with small pin-hole flats. I eventually had to start carrying around a flat-repair kit in my bag (patches, tube, levers, mini-pump), which definitely helped in terms of not getting stranded, but it was still a hassle having to take 10-15 minutes out in public fixing a flat or two a week, plus the weight of all the extra kit.After doing some research on puncture-resistant tires and asking around town I finally decided on the Gatorskins and I have to say I love 'em. The day after I put them on I had to do some riding around town and after all the snow we've had recently the roads have been in less than stellar condition. In addition to the ubiquitous threat of broken glass, I also was dealing with tons of gravel, pot-holes, and left over road-salt, conditions where, with my old tires I'd have flatted out no question. Pricey but worth it
I've been commuting for years and have thousands of miles on my bike. I've been through about every tire out there and have settled on the Gator Skin as my number one choice.I ride on city streets with lots of debris. I've never yet flatted with the Gator Skins. Also, they are pretty light weight for having such good protection from flats. Finally, they grip very well in rainy conditions. OK, they are rather pricey but they are the only tires I buy now.

Great commuting tire until it failed.
I love and hate this tire. The love is because it's grippy even on wet roads. It has not allowed many flats. I had a few last season of commuting but I'm attributing it to crumby tubes. My current dislike is cheap Chinese tubes. The seams seem to fail after a mere 500 miles or so. The tread on this tire is very nice. I'm running 700x28 which keep my 220+lbs of commuting bike/gear/me from pinch flats on the railroad tracks and bridge joints.The hate is that the sidewall failed without notice. As in with other tires, it's the tread that wears out and then you can see that's time for a new tire. Or the sidewall fibers start to break and you can see it's getting brittle. This tire exhibited none of those warning signs. From my photos you can see how much tread is left.What happened on this tires last ride is that I had a car start to pull out into the street in front of me and I hit the brakes in a panic stop from 25mph+. Continental DWS 224/45/17
The Continental DWS is marketed as a ultra-high performance all season. This tire replaced the Bridgestone Potenza RE92 (OEM) in my 2008 Subaru Legacy GT 5EAT. Out of nearly all the ultra high performance all season tires, this has the most aggressive tread designed for light snow conditions. It does have some drawbacks such as it's soft sidewall. This can be remedied by slightly upping the tire pressures. However, it does what it advertises and does that for a great price compared to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and the Bridgestone Potenza 970AS which are two very good offerings within the ultra high performance all season class.

Excellent All Season Performance
Excellent Tire!Bought for RWD Infiniti G35 Coupe. Performed admirably during the blizzards of 2010-2011, up hills, down hills and cornering (driving properly in the snow and ice) with no drifting, nor getting stuck on grades. Also superior wear on this car's heavily cambered suspension, after 10,000 miles minimal wear has occurred. Tires grip very well in the wet and in the dry there is no significant sacrifice in responsiveness or grip.Have used many brands of tires from Goodyear to Bridgestone to BF Goodrich to Falken and Kuhmo. These live up to the description - EXTREME CONTACT Dry Wet and Snow.

Awesome tires!
I have had a full set of 225/45R18 (slightly larger than these) on my car for the last year and a half. They have been perfect for me so far. Even having my alignment off slightly a little which caused more wear than normal, I have over 55,000 miles on the tires right now. And to add to that, the W of the DWS marker on the tire just wore off only recently (meaning that by the tread thickness, they are still perfectly fine to drive in dry weather, slightly questionable in wet conditions). I have absolutely no complaints, they ride great, are decently quiet, and grip the road very well.I also had a set of Continental ContiExtreme Contact tires before these ones (model below I believe) and got over 40,000 miles also. The Extreme Contact DWS by far were better though in my opinion.
