The best basmati rice we've found
We eat a lot of basmati rice and the Royal brand is our favorite. It has a superior flavor and aroma over the other basmatis we've tried, and the grains cook up so much nicer and fluffier.To truly appreciate this fine rice, I would highly recommend following the directions to rinse the rice first. It DOES make a difference.

Absolutely the best
I have lived in many places around the world and have always managed to find good Basmati rice, but I have never had anything like Tilda. Another reviewer mentioned that the grains are not stuck together. That is very true (low starch) but the best thing is the flavor contained within this rice. Once it is cooked, each grain is delicious and full of flavor. This is the quality where Tilda shines above the rest. The grains are not just long and separate, they are delicious. When I run out and can't find Tilda, I buy something else from Indian stores in Queens. Some are very good, but not as good as Tilda. When you cook it, the aroma builds up - the scent of sacks and far-away places - like nothing else. It goes very nicely with some quality saffron. I find that Tilda is perfect with Turkish or Moroccan food and is great for pilafs (of all sorts, but especially amazing with lamb).

The best...hands down
I've been buying Tilda rice for some time now and just felt it was right to post a small review. It's by far the best rice I've ever tried. As the other reviewers mention, when cooked the rice is so light and fluffy, not a ball of glue. Perfect side dish! I use the simple cooking instructions on the side. Rinse the rice before boiling, heat up the water to boiling and dump the rice in. Cook for about 10 minutes and then rinse in a colander with hot water to stop cooking. Perfect every time!I've also purchased several times from the this vendor and have never had an issue, always prompt shipping and fresh product.

More than food
Basmati rice is a very well kept secret in America. Most Americans seem to think all rice is the same (often boring is mentioned). Basmati rice is an adventure from the moment you read the label on the package. As the rice is cooked, a savory fragrance fills the air not too unlike freshly popped pop corn. Having tried various brands of Basmati rice, none have come close to Tilda. The superior quality of product and packageing has made me a loyal fan.

Good rice, good deal!
Never had India Gate's rice but I will say this was a great purchase. Excellent deal compared to buying basmati rice from the grocery store. Cooked the rice and the aroma & taste is no different from Mahatma's rice. The packaging was good. The bag is just the same as the display image. Inside the bag, the rice is seal-packaged in plastic.

My favorite basmati for Persian Rice
Royal basmati makes a consistently aromatic and slightly nutty-flavored Persian rice (Chelo); I have used this brand for decades. It is a definite advantage for cooks such as myself to have the 15 pound bag available conveniently from Amazon, not to mention the low competitive price. This rice can be used in any manner you would use typical white rice, but it definitely shines when cooked in the Middle-eastern manner. I have never failed to receive raves about the wonderful light texture, nutty flavor and heavenly aroma of Royal basmati rice. And for those familiar with Middle-eastern cuisine, the tahdig (buttery crust) formed is always savory crisp and rich flavored. Other brands may also be delicious but I've never seen fit to check; I look no further than Royal and go directly to Amazon to order it.

great value
Basmati rice is far more flavorful than any other long grain rice you can buy in the supermarket. If you eat rice regularly, and want really great rice, these 15 lb bags are a great value. They end up cost about a fifth of what it would cost to buy the rice in 1-2 lb bags at the supermarket. My family goes through several of these large bags a year. They keep well, and taste great! Since I live in a rural area a couple of hours from one of those membership clubs, Amazon is the best place to get this rice.

One of the best basmati rice available
Great aroma, cooks easily (dipping in water for just 1 hours is good enough for this rice), long grained, non sticky. Basically has all qualities you look for in a basmati rice!Right now the price at amazon is pretty competitive - 17 for a 15 pound bag! Go buy it!12/30 Update===============Either amazon changed the product or the manufacturer updated the packing. The one i bought and like come in a brown jute bag with a big Royal label on it. Not sure how good this one is.April 2012 Update=================Amazon is selling the product in its original packing now. I am confident of buying again now. Yay!!!!

Fabulous Rice
This rice is so delicious, cooks very quickly and is long and kind of has a noodle flavor. Cooked in chicken broth it is like chicken and stars soup, only much better. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with the rice. It needs lots of rinsing, rise under cold water in a sieve till the water runs clear not white cloudy, but I have always washed my rice since learning that from a sushi chef, years ago. This gets top ratings in my book and I will buy again.

Very good rice! Comes out perfectly each time.
I love this rice, it is fluffy and has a nice smell, sorta like popcorn popping. It is a verry long grain and it seprates from each other. Makes a perfect rice for Curry and the leftovers are great for Chinese Fried Rice. You must follow directions and let rice soak 15 minutes after cleaning it, but in 15 more minutes you have fluffy perfect rice. For the Latinos out there it makes good "Con Con" on the bottom of pan. 5 stars, I also like the bag it comes in, it zips up and you can hang it on a door knob or whatever you want.

Good basmati
We like Basmati rice but find it either (1) pretty expensive in the supermarket or (2) in too big a quantity (often 20 lb.) at warehouse stores. This was a good compromise - decent price and not too much to store/use in a reasonable time, plus the two bag pkg will make it easy to share with family or friend. I can't really tell one Basmati from another, but this seems at least as good as any we've had. Followed cooking directions exactly and it came out perfect.
