EXACTLY what I was looking for
I wish I had this waver years ago. I just used it for the first time and I LOVE it.I really like the wavy look I get when I put my hair in braids overnight and take them out in the morning. Of course, that method is safer for your hair because you're not scorching it all the time, but I am not very good at making decent braids in my hair, especially for the back of my head. After I take the braids out, I always feel like the back is uneven and looks bad.I began researching 3-barrel irons to find something to give me the after-braid look. So many of them were reviewed as "big, clunky" and for "long hair only." I have just above the shoulder-length hair, so I knew I had to find something smaller, but I didn't want a crimper because those make a funky 80s hairdo. If you are looking to create simple loose, beachy waves this is your product! For tighter waves, hold the styler on your hair for closer to 10 seconds...for looser waves, closer to 5 seconds. I have been very impressed by the natural looking waves that this achieves. I typically wear my hair straight and have gotten numerous compliments on my full, wavy hair. Natural Waves
My wife purchased this item. Her review follows:I purchased this item based on the review that claimed it worked on above-the-shoulder hair. While this is the first waver I have purchased and cannot say this is a unique feature, I can attest that it works well on short (approx. chin length) hair.I have slightly wavy hair that I wanted to give a more uniform texture and this waver creates a much more natural look than curling iron ringlets. For me, it is quick and easy to use because I am just touching up already wavy hair, but I can see that it could take a while to use for an individual that is more concerned with waving every section perfectly. My hair is much less frizzy when I use this, but product must be used with it to define the waves and prevent it from becoming too poofy.The biggest con (the reason I gave 4 stars) is that because of the button placement, I tend to accidentally turn it off while using it even when I am careful.

fun hairstyle =)
I like this hair appliance. It gives me a new hairstyle that I looks different. It's not just the same style that's curled at the ends, nor is it the straightened look. I have thick long hair, and it works fine... make sure you crimp little sections though. If you want to make sure your hair will stay and show the curls, you have to add hairspray and gel. If you don't have either, your hair will still be wavy, but it won't be as prominent. It takes a while, so make sure you have a lot of time to get ready! Good luck, and have fun with it :o)

Decent
I like this waver but it does take a while to get the look you want. You have to play with the heat and how much hairspray/gel you'll need to hold the look. My only gripe is that you can't set it down once it is on. I personally have used a silicon pot holder (the ones that are extremely heat resistant) and that has solved that issue. Otherwise it's a nice new "beach sexy" look.PS- I've seen some people write that it doesn't curl their hair like they want, which would make sense because this contraption is meant to create a wave. If you want a curl you'll need a curling iron or curlers.

Great Volume!

Big curling iron, big body
I love this curling iron. It is huge. I have shoulder length thick hair and I use this to add body like a blow out. I tend to start with upper portions of hair and curl down rather than the normal tips and curl up. It seems to provide the body I need while saving the ends from unnecessary damage. This iron comes with an extra spring, but I have not needed it. I purchased this about a month ago and am VERY HAPPY!!! I would recommend this wonder hair tool. Oh and the shipping was speedy!

Monster of a curling iron
I've had many curling irons throughout the years and wanted a curling iron with a bigger barrel since I have hair about 3 inches past my shoulders and didn't want a curly look most of the time. My hair tends to be on the fine side - fine hair, lots of it - so I try to be careful about what heating tools I will use on it. It is also highlighted so it can get damaged pretty easily. Back to the iron. Apparently I was wrong in thinking that I had owned a 2 inch barrel curling iron before. I must have had 1 1/2 inch irons because when I took this monster out of the box I was surprised to see how truly big this thing is. I'm trying to find something in my office right now to compare it to give you an idea of the circumference. I have a can of Aqua Net (hey, it was on sale at CVS and I needed hairspray to keep at work) under my desk and the cap on it is about the same circumference. I have purchased many curling irons over the years and the best is Helen of Troy.Most of mine were purchased at a beauty supply house.The mini iron has been the most difficult to find.I need several different sizes to style my hair.Two days after the iron arrived two of my other irons broke.I wished for Helen of Troy irons and would have gotten them instead of what I had to buy at the shopping mall.Time is what I didn't have to wait for the order..In comparing another brand to Helen of Troy there is no comparison...Helen of Troy is the very best!!!!

Great wave pattern, doesn't get hot enough
Well, I love the wave pattern this has. I ever since my old Vidal Sassoon waver went nuts and started giving me 'bangs' because it gets *way* too hot, I've been on the hunt for the perfect triple barrel waver. And honestly I have like 7 of them. Isn't that ridiculous? Of all of them I like the wave patter of this one by far the most. Not too big, not too small, has the little edges on both sides to make your curls a bit 'harder' (don't know how to explain that). But even the very highest setting is WAY too cool. It takes forever to even create a wave --- very bad for your hair, better to have something much hotter that works much faster than cooler and slower --- AND because it doesn't get hot enough the waves don't last very long. Such a shame, if it just got even a BIT hotter I would be totally devoted to this. :/

It works, but requires little practice
I got this from the nearby drug store for about $17. The first time I used it, i thought it did not work and wanted to return it back. But then I thought i'd give it another shot.Things to remember -- Dry your hair completely (as for any style). If it is greasy/oily, wash it.- Use a heat protectant spray/lotion. I used Chi Heat protectant spray.- It takes some time to heat up. They say it takes 60 seconds, But leave it on for about 3-5 minutes before use. This is key. The first time, i just let it stay on for 60 seconds and it did not give me any waves.- It does not get too hot even on high (I like it since it wont damage my hair as much) but it can burn your scalp or ears, so be careful. I always use on High.- Untangle and section your hair well for best results. You'll figure this out after you use it couple of times.- Start from the roots, leaving about an inch from the scalp, to avoid burning and for good styling effect.- Tip:...

Works great on my hair
I have thick, naturally wavy hair. All except the front, that is. The front of my hair tends to have very loose waves as opposed to the rest of my hair. Have been using this on the front and it works great. Creates a similar wave pattern to my natural wave. And mine certainly gets hot enough to hold the wave all day. I use a thermal protectant before using the waver and then a glossing/finishing cream afterward and get excellent results. And the price is great, too!

It creates the look of a salon blowout without blow drying
My long thick hair naturally dries into massive frizzy untamed curly ringlets, so I have three choices to style it - 1. Pantene leave in overnight conditioner packets (which are now discontinued) worked in wet somehow styles my mop of hair into this gorgeous polished Dyan Cannon style, 2. A flatiron to make waves from curls (twist 2" of hair into a curl between your fingers and then flat iron each for 8 seconds (it lasts for 4 days) 3. Or I use this Hot Tools 2" curling iron to quickly straighten my hair (even without blowdrying, which I hate to do anyway). I only use this brand, and I'm ready for my third because I wear them out with years of use. I've tried others but this one is stronger, gets hotter, and it seems to lock when you grab the hair so it doesnt slip out. I've taken this one with me all over the world. It's the closest thing I have in my posession to creating the look of a salon blowout. If you're anything like me, and it's almost impossible for you to recreate that...

Another satisfied customer!
This curling iron was exactly what I was looking for - it's great!!I get so many compliments on my hair all the time. I have thick, coarse hair so I really use it more for a straightener than anything....it straightens my hair and gives it a little curl on the ends for a "fuller" look to my hair. I don't like my hair completely flat to my head and this gives me a nice look of straight hair with alot of body. The only feature I wish it had was the automatic shut-off feature just in case you ever left it on. Nice heavy duty cord....long enough to move around a bit without coming unplugged!!

Hot Tools Styling products are the only ones I will use.
I have thick hair, but the strands themselves are fine. My hair has ranged from a crew cut to one length down to my knees. Right now, I am growing it back out; it's 3" below my shoulders, all in one length.I have been using Hot Tools brand professional line styling products for the past 20+ years. I have found that they are the best of the best and will not buy any other. You don't need to preheat these like other irons because they get hot within seconds. I own every size Marcel curling iron from the 1/2" to the 1-1/2" and the spring 2" curling iron as well as their ionizing blow dryer and the interchangeable size hot air brush. The only product I own that's not Hot Tools is my hot rollers, they are Remington Ceramic Rollers. HT didn't make a set that I liked, so I picked these since I needed large rollers. I don't use medium/small ever, and I needed a large set with more than 5 in them. HT does make a set of 12 (Hot Tools Hairsetter 12 pc.), but I don't know of anyone...
