Fresh Juice, Easy to Make and Clean Up
This juicer is a surprisingly easy to use and clean, relatively compact, handsome machine. There is enough power to juice just about any fruit or vegetable. This machine makes pulp free juice. Drinking juice made from ingredients that I choose myself is a wonderful thing - there are no mystery chemicals or additives unless I put them in myself. The only caution, fresh homemade juice shouldn't be kept for days, there is just too much opportunity for food safety issues.Compared to our Jack LaLanne juicer (), the Big Boss is so much better. The Big Boss is smaller, lighter, easier to clean, quieter, and doesn't spit all over the kitchen when it runs. Excellent high-ish end juicer - simple to use & works great!!
I was pleasantly surprised when I openend the box and pulled the juicer out - it's relatively compact, all-in-one, with no loose parts to lose, which is a big plus. It's also a 700 watt juicer, which is higher than many but not at the highest end of juicers: it's a pretty high end Stainless Steel juicer, and looks to be put together quite well!Juicing: I ran quite a few fruits and one vegetable thru: I juiced 8 clementines (I pulled the peels off not wanting the bitter flavor), 2 carrots, 2 Honeycrisp apples, 1 Red Delicious apple and 2 lemons (peels & all, although I did cut off the ends). Everything went thru smoothly, filling the pulp/discard container, and I got great juice (and a bit of foam) out the other end! I mixed clementines, carrots & lemons for a fun mixed juice. Omega 8006 Juicer
I have rated the 8006 at five stars because of its efficiency, ease of use and quality of materials. The newly designed auger is a translucent black material that GE calls ULTEM. The warranty has been increase from 10 years to 15 years. The juicer probably functions the same as the model 8005 and 8002 so all of the previous reviews apply to the 8006. The power switch is located at the lower back of the juicer and allows the auger to be reversed if something would become lodged in the mastication extraction tube. The Omega auger is patented and has a two stage screen for greater juice output compared to other brands. For example, five medium sized HoneyCrisp apples produced a full quart of wonderful clear pulp-free juice. The apple juice does not turn brown nearly as fast as the juice from centrifugal type juicers due to the lower oxidation from the 80 rpm auger. Simple & Easy Clean up
I had the opportunity to experience juicing on a loaned . After juicing every day with it for over three weeks I realized I really was into juicing and it was not some new Gadget phase I was going through. So I did a ton of research and chose the Omega 8006.The first thing I can tell you is this is not as noisy as the centrifuge juicer I tried (Jack L juicer). The sound is similar to an old hand mixer on low speed.The second thing clean up took less time and was easier. Mainly the parts are smaller so they're easier to clean thoroughly. There are no awkward nooks & crannies where food can get stuck. The Omega 8600 clean up involves four main parts. This book is pretty much the recipes only. Lots of good ideas of how to put your fresh foods together to make a new recipe, but that's pretty much it. Worth all of the .99 I paid for it. It is just recipes, not much else. That's fine but still leaves a lot to be desired for someone new to juicing.For instance if a recipe says 2 apples it doesn't say small medium or large or tart or sweet - that would have helped.Not enough help for someone new, I.e peel or not, put the seeds through or not.

Get what you pay for..
Don't expect a whole lot out of this recipe book. It's very simple and to the point. I wish there was some rime or reason for these recipes, for example what they do for your body, not just your taste buds. Happy juicing.

handy, compact appliance
I was a little concerned about how this juicer would measure up to our stronger wattage one which was heavy to lift down from an upper cupboard, the pitcher was way too large, and the pitcher handle had broken off. I like the compact size of this model, and it has NO problem efficiently juicing oranges for OJ or lemons for recipes that require juice. I only have an electric juicer because my wrists are sensitive (everyone who uses a keyboard too much should avoid the repetitive movements required with an old-fashioned glass juicer). Am very satisfied with this Oster 3186.

Got my attention
I was so inspired after watching this movie I pulled my juicer out of the closet and I'm heading to Whole Foods today to pick up some good veggies and fruits. OK, I'm not overweight by hundreds of pounds or much less even fifty but I constantly battle with my weight going up and down 20-30 pounds. When I lose the weight I always feel so great but inevitably real life sets in and I find myself reaching for the wrong foods. Just to watch the weight loss of these two guys, Joe who made the documentary and Phil whom Joe met on his path across America during his 60 day juice fast, and seeing their life transform was amazing. I was fortunate enough to be at the premiere screening at the Sonoma Film Festival this year.The film is about Joe Cross, a businessman from Australia who's health was absolutely in shambles. He had a rare autoimmune disease and was in regular pain and had to take multiple medications to counteract the symptoms.
