Excellent phone
(I would expect someone investigating purchasing a cell phone would do some price comparison, $700 for this phone is a bit steep.)The Nexus S is an interesting phone. It is the sequel to Google and HTC's Nexus One (incorrectly regarded as a flop) and like the iPhone 4 it sets the bar for the current generation of smart phones.I bought this phone on its release day, so I am very familiar with what it can do. I came from using a which was another great unlocked phone. But this year alone has seen a lot of improvements in what phones can do.The Nexus S, made by Samsung, is a gorgeous gadget. It is a little underwhelming in person, glossy all-black, but its a sleak package and...

Android Version 2.3 Top to learn more

Get the ultimate Google experience at 3G speeds which pairs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor and integrated Google Voice capabilities. A thin-profile contour display gives the Nexus S a unique slim and trim size that fits easily in the palm of your hand, and its brighter, high-contrast screen means colors are incredibly vibrant and text is crisp at any size--even when viewed in bright sunlight.

The Nexus S 3G is packed with the latest technologies (view larger).

The 4-inch Super AMOLED screen with Curved Display (view larger).

The Nexus S is packed with the latest mobile technologies, including a Super AMOLED Contour Display with curved glass screen, 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, and Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking plus 3G Mobile Hotspot capability for sharing your 3G connection with up to six Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously. And with support for Near Field Communications (NFC), the Nexus S can read information from "smart" tags, or everyday objects that have NFC chips in them--from stickers and movie posters to t-shirts.

The phone is outfitted with a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera plus a front-facing camera for easy video chats on the go. Other features include assisted GPS (A-GPS) for navigation and location-based services, Bluetooth for hands-free devices and stereo music streaming, haptic feedback vibration, access to both personal and corporate e-mail, and up to 6 hours of talk time. And with the Nexus S, you'll always be the first to receive software upgrades and new Google mobile apps as soon as they become available.

Google Voice Integration

With Google Voice, your phone number is more than just 10 digits--it's the main hub of your voice communications. You get one number that rings all your phones--up to six different phones--with intelligent call routing and advanced features like call screening, blocking, and recording. You also get transcribed voicemail that's sent to you via email and/or text message, low-priced international calling, custom voicemail greeting capabilities, and more.

Android, 2.3 (Gingerbread) Platform

The Nexus S 3G runs the Android 2.3 platform (dubbed "Gingerbread")--the fastest version of Android available for smartphones yet. It features a cleaner, more refined interface with new icons, improved top notification bar, and more intuitive navigation. Multitasking in Gingerbread allows you the ability to run more than one app at a time. If you're playing a game, you can easily switch to an incoming email and then switch back to the game without losing your place.

A new onscreen keyboard makes it easier to type thanks to additional spacing between the keys and larger font sizes. And the more you use the keyboard, the easier typing will be as the enhanced suggest feature records previous input history to make better suggestions.

Voice Actions.

With Voice Actions for Android, you can press and hold the Search button from anywhere and speak almost anything--text messages and emails, navigation direction queries, opening web pages, and more. And like the previous version of Android ("Froyo"), Gingerbread provides support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for access to the full Web.

The Nexus S 3G also brings one-touch access to the popular Google mobile services you use every day, including Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps with Navigation, Google Calendar, Picasa, and YouTube. It also provides easy access to both personal and corporate e-mail, calendars, and contacts supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. And through Android Market, you'll get access to thousands of useful applications, widgets, and fun games to download and install on your phone, with many more apps being added every day.

Near-Field Communications

An NFC Reader application lets your read and interact with near-field communication (NFC) tags. For example, you can "touch" or "swipe" an NFC tag that might be embedded in a poster, sticker, or advertisement, then act on the data read from the tag. A typical use would be to read a tag at a restaurant, store, or event and then rate or register by jumping to a web site whose URL is included in the tag data.

Vital Statistics

The Nexus S weighs 4.6 ounces and measures 4.87 x 2.48 x 0.44 inches. Its 1500 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 6 hours of talk time.

Went from an iPad 1 to Galaxy Tab 2 and love it
So this device just came out this morning, and I hadn't planned on buying it but I was down at my local best buy store and played with it just to see what it was and loved it! Let me say I used to have all apple stuff, apple computer, iphone, ipad, etc. Over the last year my apples have rotted, went bad and needed to be replaced. Instead of paying high dollar for all new apple stuff I went back to a windows PC, an Andorid Galaxy S2 phone, still had the iPad but it was in need of replacement. So I got to Best Buy they didn't have these out yet but they pulled one out and let me play with it while they set up the are for the demo unit to go. I liked it, very snappy, great screen. The device comes preloaded with ICS on it, it's VERY snappy with zero lag so far.The screen while not a retina display like the iPad is still clear enough for me. After all I'm not holding this inches from my face. if you do you get a chance to play with 1 of these before you buy go to...

Why I prefer the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 to the Kindle Fire
I have a and do enjoy using it (for the most part) -- love the form factor, enjoy the apps that I can get for it and am very pleased with the Kindle eReader app and ability to share books across all our Kindles. But when we were offered an opportunity to check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 a few days early, we jumped at the chance. The Kindle Fire is great at what it does, but its custom Android O/S, non-standard Web browser, limited selection of apps, lack of expandable storage and lack of Bluetooth support leave me cold.*Browser Issues*I've experienced multiple issues trying to browse web sites with the Kindle's Silk browser which work fine on the Galaxy Tab 2 and other full-fledged Android devices. Specifically on many sites with Flash content, I get a message on the Fire that viewing the content...

Breakthrough Price & Value
This is a brand new product from Samsung that breaks the $250 price barrier. There are a lot of tablets at or below this price but they are mostly very low end devices with slow CPUs, poor screens and built for non-US markets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 makes none of the compromises typical of this price point and provides the same kind of performance you'd expect from the rest of the Samsung Galaxy Tab portfolio. It's fast, slick, has a great screen and even has Android 4.03 (Ice Cream Sandwich). I do like the new operating system and adapted to it in minutes. In addition to front & rear cameras there is bluetooth and even an IR blaster so you can use it as a remote for your TV. It only took a minute to set that up and get a program guide downloaded. All the apps on my Gingerbread phone loaded up to the Tab and run fine on the ICS platform. I can't comment on battery life yet as I plugged it for the initial charge and setup and haven't run on battery yet. As far as WiFi...

the only SUPER Phone & comparison to Verizon's Motorola Droid & HTC Incredible
I almost cried when I returned the to Verizon due to connectivity problems but now I am glad I ended up with the ! This Nexus One hasn't failed me yet; it has strong 3G connectivity with T-Mobile and strong Edge connectivity with AT&T. The phone is gorgeous (AMOLED display - Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode) and amazingly fast (snapdragon processor) and fun (Android 2.1 interface enhancements)!I love the droid platform that you can customize and aren't stuck with the rigid iPhone experience.I love Google's turn by turn navigation which usually works for me by voice command...

The Nexus One: Don't Believe the Hype
I know, I know. I gave this product 5 stars yet my review title seems to be quite a bit contradictory, but theres plenty of reasons why. First and foremost, I have dreamed of this product ever since I got into the PDA game in 1999 with my Palm IIIc. Since then, I've used a veritable warehouse of different units, anything ranging from the aforementioned Palm IIIc to pretty much any Android handset out there that offers service in a GSM flavor to this point. I purchased the Nexus One on day one, and received it over night, so I am by far one of the earliest adopters in the market. As you can imagine, my expectations are quite high for an all-in-one PDA, and even though my title may be emitting a bad taste in my mouth, I can assure you thats not the case. With PDA's/Smartphones bridging the gap between our Laptop's/PC's, the functionality all needs to be there to really be a full on mobile replacement. With the insurmountable amount of internet discussion that this device...

This is my first smartphone and I think it's great
I've had the Google Nexus One for about three or four days now. I got the unlocked version direct from Google for $530, so I can't imagine why anyone would pay the $630 or more other sellers are asking for. Switching my number over to T-Mobile was easy, although it took about a day for the transfer to be finalized, which I'm blaming on Sprint due to my experience with their customer service in the past. And since I have the unlocked phone I was able to get the Even More Plus plan with 500 minutes, unlimited texting and "unlimited" data for $59.99 a month, so I'll be saving a _lot_ of money in the long run compared to the iPhone on AT&T or the Droid on Verizon. So far the phone seems very fast and I've already downloaded several apps. Some people have been making a big deal about the fact that the app space is limited to the internal 512 MB flash drive, unlike the iPhone which can save app data to the main drive. I've installed 9 apps so far, the largest is 3.59MB and the smallest is...

Product Description

The Google Nexus One was rumored to be a device that would revolutionize the overwhelming stronghold mobile operators have over their clients by totally bypassing carrier-voice calls and enabling users to make VoIP only calls thus freeing consumers from mobile operator s "money-grabbing" constraints. The Nexus One is built by HTC with a lot of input from Google and it runs Android 2.1. The reported changes are a touch of 3D in the app tray, a bit of WebOS gadgetry with a preview of all homescreen pages done card-style. Preloaded are Google Navigation (in the US) and the new Google Goggles, which identifies objects by using the camera and brings up relevant information. The device is not locked ad works on T-Mobile network in the US. Engadget have unearthed a report from the FCC about the Nexus One passing their tests. The interesting bit here is that it has quad-band GSM support and 1700/1900MHz 3G support, which covers T-Mobile indeed. Top to learn more

Representing the next stage in smartphone development, the unlocked Google Nexus One phone from HTC offers supercharged power with one of the fastest processors currently available in a smartphone, a 3.7-inch super LCD touch display, and access to all your contacts and most important data from a variety of Google tools via the Android 2.1 operating system. Excellent phone, but a bit dated now
I bought this phone about 6 months after in first came out, and I've loved it ever since. Two years later, it's starting to show its age, especially when compared with some of the newer Android phones, but it's by no means obsolete; it still does everything I need it to do (e-mail, web, video, navigation/maps, texting, and phone calls). I use the facebook and Twitter apps, which both run great, although some of the newest, most resource-heavy apps are a bit slower. If you're looking for a lightning-fast smartphone to serve as your mobile computer, go ahead and spend $500 for something like the Galaxy S; if you're budget conscious, and just want a smartphone to check your e-mail, occasionally surf the web, get directions and navigation, and use as a phone, rather than a Gameboy, this phone is a great choice.

Product Description

The long-awaited T-Mobile G1 smartphone combines full touchscreen functionality and a QWERTY keyboard with a mobile Web experience that includes many Google tools you've come to rely on with your PC, including Google Maps Street View Gmail, and one-touch Google search. It's also the first phone to be powered by Google's new open-source Android operating system, which offers an intuitive interface easily customizable home screen. You can also purchase optional software via the Android Market to personalize your G1 with a variety of software applications like games, social networking, and on-the-go shopping. In addition to a vibrantly colorful 3.2-inch touchscreen, the G1's hinged screen slides open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard and closes to prevent accidental dialing. It runs on T-Mobile's new and growing 3G network, and also offers Wi-Fi connectivity for surfing the web on your wireless network or at hotspots as well as Bluetooth for both hands free communication and stereo music streaming. Other features include a 3-megapixel camera for still photos and video capture, a digital audio player (and easy access to Amazon's MP3 store), and up to 5 hours of talk time. Top to learn more

G1 good but old
The T-Mobile G1 isn't a bad smart phone. The thing to remember though is it was the first android phone in the world and is about 2 to 2 and a half years old. People who complain about battery life need to understand that android phones in general use a TON of battery life but there are apps to help just like on windows. I recommend downloading Advanced Task Killer from the android market. These phones run like computers. Any open apps continue to run in the background so they consume memory and battery. The G1 is still a great phone but it just can't keep up with any of the new androids. It was top of the line when it launched but once again that was over two years ago so people looking for speed will want to stay away from it.

Got mobile in excellent condition
This is first time I ordered a mobile from Amazon. This was a risk for me but when I opened the packed I was relieved. The mobile is in good condition and working fine. I liked this HTC due to Google applications but the mobile seems to be slower than I can use. I am using it in India and have GPRS (internet) in mobile. But my mobile works very slow while connected to internet.

!!!!! AMAZING !!!!
Ok..I've been using amazon for more than 5 years, and i have probably bought more than 500 items, but this is the first time i spend some minutes to leave a review because it really deserves it..I bought this iphone holder not so confident of what i would receive because there was no feedback at all, i guess it has been just introduced to the market..but i thought, well somebody has to take the risk, i just got it..I have an iphone 4S and my car is a new ford mustang, so i wanted to buy a holder that did not affect the look of my car, in fact, i wanted it to make it look better, and of course safe for my iphone...This holder is the smallest one i have ever seen, it fits the iphone no matter if you have a case on it..like i do, because you can adjust it..then you can move it to any position that you want, and stick it yo your dashboard or your windshield..the iphone is safe no matter how you place it..in my case I wanted to use Siri while driving, of course typing while driving is not...

Sleek & Sticks
Reading some of the reviews I was a little hesitant at buying because of "suction cup does't stick", but for the price, I went for it.One week old so far and its great! I used the provided plastic "circle" piece with the sticky thing on back to stick to my dashboard, and the suction cup sticks to that. (In NJ, you can get ticketed for having something mounted on your windshield). And for the people who say it doesn't stick - did you remove the thin piece of plastic off of the suction cup - I almost missed that it was on there - this may be the reason people are complaining. There was no instructions, but its self exclamatory.Just barely fits my Samsung/Google Galaxy Nexus (Verizon LTE version)with a case on it - its tight, but fits!No cons whatsoever.

Breaks easily/ has been corrected by iOttie
The ball swivel bracket attaching the phone holder to the mounting base (which must be moved to adjust the phone once you have put the phone into the holder) breaks easily. It worked fine when first installed, but when the first day below freezing came, caused the swivel to seize up and snap off when used. The unit is worthless without the phone holder connected to the base.I have contacted the manufacturer and am waiting for their reply as to my request for a replacement._______________I received contact from the manufacturer iOttie and they are standing behind their product and sending me a replacement. They stated that they have not had this problem before and have requested the damaged unit to investigate the issue further. I am satisfied with their response.Noah

I bought it for a Samsung Galaxy S
I bought this pouch for a Samsung Galaxy S, since it was close to the dimensions of my phone. Even if it fits perfectly, the top of the phone is uncovered for about 3 millimeters (so I wouldn't recommend it for a Galaxy S). The exact usable area of this pouch is: 70mm x 115mm x ~10mm. So, if your phone is within these dimensions, it will work for you.The materials are great. It comes with a very soft material in the inside that will protect your phone from scratches and actually clean it from fingerprints. The outside of the cover, comes with a texture very very similar to neoprene, which doesn't accumulate dirt and always looks clean. The fabrics look very resistant and are kind of thick (about 1.5mm thick). They are not elastic, so your phone must be within the dimensions stated above for it to fit.It looks professional, clean and very well made.

Great for LG Optimus V/S!
I bought this inexpensive case for my LG Optimus V with the thought that I'd use it while I shopped around for something that I liked better. However, this works perfectly for my needs. I have a screen protector on my phone, but no hard case. This soft case provides protection for my phone while it's in my purse, but slips off easily and doesn't add bulk while I'm using the phone. The LG Optimus S is the same size as the Optimus V, so this case should work for that phone as well.

Also a good fit for newer Motorola Droid phone
Besides its intended use, this pouch is an easy but secure fit for a Motorola Droid. It seems nicer to use than anything that's specifically marketed for that phone.

Where Can I buy A Google Phone

Best Buy sold the phones for Google, unlocked with or without carrier commitment -- but $529 no contract. It also comes pre-installed with the Google Wallet app which lets you easily make purchases and redeem offers with a tap of your phone. Google has surreptitiously answered whether ATT or T-Mobile would carry Galaxy Nexus, which is available from Sprint and Verizon here in the United States: No. Otherwise, why would Google sell the smartphone direct, which it started doing yesterday. Both handsets are HSPA+, though, and AppleCare+, which offers cheap replacement for broken phones, is an extra $99. The phone sold for $729 or more from Amazon and handset resellers just a few months ago. So I ask: Would you -- or will you -- buy Galaxy Nexus direct from Google. Galaxy Nexus may soon lose its crown as hottest Android handset, although "pure Google" -- meaning newest Android and no sneaky skins -- remains an important differentiator. Some partners have corrupted pure Google -- Verizon among them -- by disabling or muting some Galaxy Nexus/Ice Cream Sandwich features while holding back updates. Galaxy Nexus is available from Google Play's new "devices" section. I purchased two Nexus One smartphones direct from Google in 2010. Google had the right idea when selling Nexus One direct starting in January 2010. Many bloggers, journalists and pundits got it wrong, presuming Google wanted to circumvent carriers. "First available in the US, Galaxy Nexus costs $399 and arrives at your door unlocked, without a carrier commitment or contract", Android chief Andy Rubin says. As I said then, Google rightly wanted to establish a reference design for Android smartphones and provide developers and enthusiasts with the most current OS version. This time, Google is trying to get around carriers as well. Google's timing is strange, though.

Last year, Potter assigned the patent to a Texas shell company which in turn assigned it to a Colorado shell company called Potter Voice LLC that is suing the phone makers. The lawsuit singles out Apple’s iPhone 4S and its Siri voice assistant as well as a range of phone makers like Samsung and Sony that use Google Voice Actions technology. In some cases, the phone makers buy the patents themselves. In a sweeping lawsuit, a Colorado shell company is suing the entire mobile phone industry over a patent for inventions where “Oral input is used to control a digital computer. Well no matter If the patent had a product to go with it when it was patented it’s a patent and when they passed it they should have thought of that and made guide lines for it. I say they have a real case and before any big company goes about... The Supreme Court has responded to the patent problem in part by tightening the definition of “obvious” and Congress last year passed patent legislation that makes it easier to attack suspect patents (the law doesn’t apply to older patents).

Laptops, tablets, cell phones, you name it and chances are we write about it to some extent. We take guest posts on a frequent basis, and after you get two or three successful guest blog posts under your belt, we’ll invite you in for a permanent stay.

When the Nexus One was launched back in January 2010 , it was part of Google’s grand plan to offer hardware through its own web store, where anyone could lay down a wad of cash and get an unlocked phone in return, or select a tariff from a choice... The answer is almost certainly still no, but then Google hasn’t come out and said it wants to change the way people in the US buy phones this time, either. The phone averages at around $450 unlocked with other online retailers and until recently, the Galaxy Nexus has been $300 plus a two-year contract, but this week Verizon cut that price by $100. This was common practice in Europe at the time, and still is, but in the USA, phones are traditionally bought with a lengthy and expensive contract direct through a carrier. The phone is only available unlocked, and rather than price it at the very top end of the scale, it’s yours for $399. Little doubt remains that this marks the start of a new direct device sales era for Google, as the Galaxy Nexus appears in its own Devices section of Google Play, leaving plenty of room to expand in the future. Trial run It appears this is more than a rumor, as Google has just begun selling the Galaxy Nexus smartphone through its Google Play store. ” In other words, all the carriers are great and the phone is merely complementing our app, music, movie and book sales.
